MICKLEFIELD Judo Club scooped 20 medals at their own event last weekend, when a host of their players also made debuts as referees and table officials.

In total 140 competitors from a range of clubs took part in the Grant & Stone Red and Yellow Belt Rumble, but top billing went to the gold medalists with Luke Stallwood, Anusit Phalasan, Emils Canko and Alisa Sydykova all winning their groups.

Silvers came from Sam Elliott, Micaela Day, Sam Abbas, Tyrese Yearwood, Kim Day and Zak Saganowski, while Nathan Walford, Aidan Long, Libby Cowlard, Jermiah Cross, Cassie Smith, Ben Anderson, Jay Parkin, Sophie Plumridge, Conor Aubrey and Jamie Drew all won bronzes.

Meanwhile, newly-qualified referees in action included Andriy Zapotichny, Joe Chraniuk, Chloe Dodge, Samir Sydykov, Daniel Canko and Callum Saganowski.

Sandra Saganowski, Jo Drew, Nikkie Day, Sue Carter and Devon Chapman were table officials.

Also winning golds were Hazlemere players Tommy Harris and Jake Barber with bronzes to Kier Harwood-Laye, Rhys Medd and Ryan Payne.

Meanwhile, Micklefield were in action again on Sunday, when four of their seniors went to Worthing for the South Coach Competition.

Laura Plumridge won gold in the Dan Grade, while bronzes came from Rustam Sydykov, Sue Carter and Liam Avis Bates in the Kyu Grade group.
