GARETH Ainsworth believes Wanderers’ two home games this week will be a harder prospect than league leaders Chesterfield.

Blues brought an end to their Adams Park hoodoo in their last home match against the Spireites as Max Kretzschmar’s penalty halted their run of ten games without a win in front of their own fans.

Ainsworth said it’s crucial Wanderers build on that after picking up four points from the two away fixtures that immediately followed it.

But he admits his men face a tall order against two of the division’s form teams, as Hartlepool United arrive in town tomorrow before Plymouth Argyle pitch up at Adams Park on Tuesday night.

Hartlepool sit ninth after three wins in six, with Argyle one place higher and threatening a late promotion charge after smashing in nine goals in their last two games.

And Ainsworth said: "I think these two will be as tough, if not tougher, than Chesterfield because they are both on a big roll. Both have got big momentum.

"Hartlepool have been turning teams over 3-0 and 4-0. They’ve had a couple of stutters but I’m expecting a tough game on Saturday. Plymouth are the top scorers of the month – they have been flying and knocking in goals left, right and centre and they have a chance of the play offs. These next two are going to be very tough games.

"It was nice to beat top of the league and nick a point at Southend – two high flying teams – but the league isn’t over yet and we won’t know where anyone will finish until 46 games.

"I expect both of those teams now to be right in amongst it, Plymouth especially – they are free scoring at the moment."

Wanderers have already chalked up wins against both their next opponents however, winning 2-1 at Hartlepool in September before thrashing Argyle 3-0 on their own turf the following week.

Ainsworth said: "Hartlepool have raised a few eyebrows. They were bottom of the league when we played them – it goes to show what a good three points that was away from home."
