WYCOMBE Phoenix star Harry Sutherland climbed to fourth on the all-time UK heptathlon list as he surged to the U17s national indoor title last weekend.
Sutherland was off the pace after five events of the competition, but he shot from fifth to second in the penultimate discipline thanks to a 3.66m pole vault.
The fastest 1,000m run of the day completed the turnaround as Sutherland, a former English Schools’ Combined Events champion, overtook Max Price to take the title with 4,714 points, which places him fourth on the all-time UK list.
The victory continued Sutherland’s rise and rise through British athletics, as he topped a high quality field of 20 athletes, 11 of whom scored enough points to finish inside the UK’s all-time top 50.
