BOOKER Gym Club star Zachary Middleton has been selected to represent Great Britain at the European Tumbling Championships in April.

Middleton’s rise through the tumbling ranks is inspiration for his clubmates, seven of whom qualified for the National Tumbling semi-finals Sheffield last weekend.

These semi-finals are part of the spring tumbling series, from which the top eight scorers in each category will qualify for the national finals.

They represented the Southern Region against the top two tumblers from other regions around the UK and Freddie Hoskins set the standard with a gold medal in national level three.

Jack O’Brien also won gold in national level four.

Amy Longhurst and Kate Lees both finished fourth in national level one and four respectively, while Shane Hampden came fifth in national level four.

Anna Hunter was on course to add another medal but she was knocked out after performing the wrong somersault ending in her final run, while Sean Harrison had to withdraw through injury.

The second and final spring series takes place in Coventry in May.
