WYCOMBE High School are used to national success on the netball court, but now their squash teams are starting to make waves too.

Following up from fourth place in the national finals in their first season last year, the school has just returned to Bucks with a third and sixth place finish.

Their U15s and U19s both won four qualifying matches to reach the finals in Manchester, and their U15s continued that form with a 5-0 victory over Benedon in their opening match.

Eventuall winners Dame Allan’s got the better of them in the second game before Wycombe bounced back strongly in the third-place play-off to beat Cleeve 3-2.

The U19s were the youngest team in their group but still finished a creditable sixth place.

PE teacher Anna Snook said: “We are tremendously proud of the achievements of the Wycombe High School U15 and U19 teams and their position as the best squash school in Buckinghamshire.

“It is a testament to their commitment to training and measured and calm approach in competition.”

Meanwhile, head coach of Wycombe Squash and Racket Club Heidi Leseur said: “The coaches at Wyocmbe Squash and Racket Club are delighted with the recent success of the girls at the national schools competition.

“The young squads have super potential and we will work hard to build on this achievement next year.”

U15s squad is: Bethan Draper, Lilley Morgan, Emily Morgan, Cassie Green, Alysha Martin, Jess Martin, Lauren Allington and Rachel Albin (coach).

U19s squad is: Kathryn Evans, Becky Meyrick, Bethan Draper, Rachel Albin, Cassie Green, Lilley Morgan.
