THE top two in the Super 20 Darts Singles League both suffered shock results as tension built in the penultimate round of fixtures.

Leader and defending champion Simon Bustin must have expected a routine win against Trevor Brereton, who had only managed two losing points all season.

But Brereton delivered his best match to hold Bustin to a 4-4 draw.

Hoping to take advantage was second-placed Blaine Jelly, but he slipped up with a 6-2 reverse to Dan Franzen.

Continuing the upsets, top-five player John Beattie was beaten 5-3 by Mark Vojkovic.

Elsewhere, Dave Stopps edged out Rob Brereton 5-3 while Pat O’Reilly lost 5-3 to Liam Maughan but then bounced back to beat Mick Carlton 7-1.

In other games, Andy Long beat Steven Vaughan 6-2 and Phil Burton and Mark Luckett drew 4-4.
