ANDY Long was one leg away from a thrilling treble at the Wycombe & Amersham Darts Club League final night.

He won two of three titles on offer, but was beaten in the closest of Singles finals to miss out on the cleansweep.

His evening began with a 100 outshot to dismiss Andy King in the semi-finals of the Secretaries Cup.

Paul Barnfield got the better of Des Marshall in the other semi-final, but he couldn’t live with Long, who won the trophy 2-0.

Long joined Beaconsfield Legion partner Jason Hine in the Pairs Competition, and they set about defending their title well by beating Marsh Legion’s Ian White and Stuart Lane in the last four.

Bob Calder and Richard Tilbury of Holmer Green Legion A were then edged out 2-1 by RAFA Club’s Dan Anstiss and Graham Smith, but again Long prevailed in the final.

With the match poised at 2-2, he hit the double ten to seal it.

However, the Singles title proved one too far.

He beat Steve Woods and Smith to reach the final, but Paul Tubb ended his winning sequence with a 3-2 triumph in the final.

Tubb overcame Dan Franzen and Antiss to reach the final.
