HIGH Wycombe Boxing Club and Freemasonry in the Community hosted it’s first boxing show at the town hall over Easter, with eight homegrown boxers fighting on a jam-packed bill.

Chanze Ballantyne was first up but after a bright start he was overpowered by Trevor Corcoran, who won by a split decision.

Daniel Burridge also lost out on the judges’ decision in his bout with George Jowett of Southampton, but Tommy Stanley did win for Wycombe against Ned Connors.

It was Stanley’s first competitive bout, but he battled to the last bell to win a split decision and also walk away with the Junior Boxer of the Night award.

Meanwhile, Kamal Brown lost a split decision to Kasim Shaf of Watford and Jack Durham missed out in another similarly close bout with Twickenham’s Ryan Singleton.

However, Durham still did enough to earn a Home Counties call up alongside Stanley for their match in Guernsey next weekend.

In the senior section, Courtney Frimpong was back in the ring for the first time in more than a year but made a thrilling return to win a split decision against Jake Omera.

Frimpong was also named Senior Boxer of the Night.

Completing the full schedule, Brendon May was just too good for Luton’s Zeshan Javid and Andy Tait stopped Karl Fisher.
