WASPS director of rugby Dai Young has challenged his players to pick themselves up from yesterday’s semi-final defeat and nail down seventh place in the Aviva Premiership.

Wasps lost 24-18 to Bath in the Amlin Challenge Cup semi-final.

However, they still have plenty to play for with seventh place in the Aviva Premiership earning an Anglo-Franco play-off for European qualification next season.

Wasps occupy seventh at the moment, but Exeter are breathing down their necks.

Young said: “Next week is an important game for the club. We want to have a chance of playing in Europe.

“We’ve still got two big games left to play and we’ve got to nail them to give ourselves a shot at seventh.

“I’m sure any French team we play will be quality but we want to be back in Europe.”

Wasps host Newcastle next Saturday before going to Northampton on the final day of the season.
