WYCOMBE Athletic are celebrating after wrapping up the Wycombe & District Football League Premier Division title with four games to spare last week.
They beat Chinnor 4-0 thanks goals from Will Agnew (2), Ryan Botton and Lewis Hunt to claim the crown in Tristan Ferguson’s first season at the helm.
He said: “I’d put it down to our never-say-die attitude. There is a real team spirit here and the boys have played for each other.
“They’ve put a shift in this season and had some great wins.”
Captain Craig Osborne believes the manager deserves a lot of the credit though.
He said: “He’s been awesome. Everyone loves playing for him.”
Athletic won the Subsidiary Cup last year but their league triumph represents another step up and the good news is Ferguson is staying put to mastermind more glory.
He said: “I’ve already spoken to the chairman and I’m definitely staying next year.
“It’s going to be tough because we’re going the Senior Section, but can’t wait to get stuck in.”
Athletic finish their season with games against Wizards, Chinnor A and Prestwood Reserves.
