WYCOMBE Wanderers Ladies upset the odds to win the Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League Plate last weekend.
They beat Headington 3-1 to add to the Thames Valley Cup they won last year in a 3-2 extra time victory over Milton Keynes.
The Plate was Wanderers’ third final in four seasons, but they went into the game as underdogs after losing two previous matches with Headington.
However, Wanderers raced into a 2-0 first-half lead and although Headington pulled one back from the spot in the final ten minutes they weren’t able to grab a second, and a third Wanderers goal soon afterwards wrapped up the trophy.
Wycombe Wanderers Ladies are looking for new players next season.
Anyone over 16 is welcome to call coach Andrew Morten on 07717220966.
Wanderers Ladies are: (back l-r) Hope McIntyre, Laura Holland, Flo Webb, Lauren Head, Nicola Kirk, Emma Klima, Andrew Morten (coach), Emily Sherwood, Angeli Lotay, Sophy Barnett, Megan McClure, Hannah Moore.
(Front l-r) Holly Hussey-Burd, Sian Pill, Jacqui Coomber, Charlotte Bagshaw, Alicia Povey, Koren Jones.
