COLIN Daniel has become Wanderers' ultimate cult hero never to have played for the club.

The little-known Mansfield midfielder wrote himself into club folklore at Adams Park as his winner for the Stags at Bristol Rovers ensured Wanderers' survival at the Pirates' expense.

Here we present a mini factfile on the new Wycombe fans' favourite.

- Born in Nottingham, the 24-year-old began his football career with non-league Eastwood Town.

- He made his Football League debut for Crewe Alexandra in 2007 as a last minute substitute in a 3-0 defeat at Hartlepool.

- Daniel made a further 16 appearances for Crewe before joining Macclesfield on loan.

- He then signed permanently for the Silkmen and made more than a century of appearances for them, scoring a goal as they held Premier League Bolton to a 2-2 draw in the third round of the FA Cup.

- But after being relegated from the Football League with them in 2012, the left-sided player then joined up with his former Eastwood manager Paul Cox at Mansfield.

- He helped them to promotion in his first season at Field Mill, scoring five goals.

- Saturday's winning goal was his third of the campaign but his second in five games.

- Ironically, he was wearing a Bristol Rovers shirt when he scored the goal that relegated the Gas. Mansfield forgot to bring their kit with them and had to borrow a strip from the Pirates' youth team.

- Meanwhile Stags manager Cox condemned Wanderers to one of the lowest points in their Football League history. He was in charge of the Eastwood side that caused a shock by knocking a Wanderers side who were still unbeaten in League Two out of the FA Cup in round two of the 2008/09 competition.
