WYCOMBE boxer Jamal Khan has been tipped for Olympic glory after adding a second Three Nations title to his second national schoolboys belt.

The 14-year-old beat Scotland’s Sam Hickey to make it two Three Nations crowns in a row to go alongside his English Schoolboys double.

He has now been selected to represent England at the European Schoolboy Championships in Hungary this summer and coach Adrian Moco believes that is just the start.

Moco, who coached boxers to European and World Championship in his native Romania before switching to the UK, said: “I’ve been working with him for three years now and he has really surprised me.

“He has improved so much that now I can say he is the best boxer I’ve ever coached.

“I’ve coached many champions in Romania and taken boxers to world and European championships, but Jamal is the best.

“He is very talented and learns very quickly. He has the best technique, the best speed, he’s very powerful and is very clever in the ring.

“He is hard-working and dedicated, he dreams about boxing every night and wants to be the best.

“As long as he stays healthy he’ll represent England at the Olympics and I’ll be very proud to take him there.”

Khan receives individual training from Moco at his Cressex home while also working with Bobby Beck at the reputable Repton Gym in London.

It’s the best of both worlds, and the results speak for themselves with his inevitable England call-up for Hungary coming last week.

Dad Istasar Khan said: “We’re still buzzing. I’ve just looked on the map and there are about 40 countries in Europe.

“I’m not sure how many boxers will be in Hungary but every one of them will be their national champion so it will be difficult.

“But we’re hoping to get a gold medal, that’s what we’re after and it would be amazing if we did it. We’d be happy with a bronze or silver as well, but if we come away with nothing then we come away with nothing.

“But my boy is determined. He’ll give it 100 per cent and wants it just as much as anyone else does.”
