TWO up-and-coming young Bucks sports stars have been given a boost with grants from the Bucks SportsAid Foundation.
Marlow’s 16-year-old rower Rufus Biggs and netball player Tash Pavelin from Holmer Green each received £750 from two-time Olympian Derek Redmond.
Biggs, part of Sir William Borlase’s boat club, is targetting next year’s World Junior Rowing Championships and the Olympics in 2020 and 2024, while Pavelin hopes to wear England colours at the Commonwealth Games in Australia in 2018.
She said: “I train almost every day, going to Hertfordshire twice a week, and every month I train with the England squad in Sheffield, so travelling is a big expense.
“The grant will be a considerable help towards those costs and I also planning to buy some new equipment, I’m very grateful to SportsAid for their support.”
