BEACONSFIELD CC had Thames Valley League victory on the end of their bats on Saturday but instead of smashing it to the boundary they nicked it to slip and were beaten by Marlow.
Having scored 196-5, they had Marlow in severe trouble at 51-6 after fine spells from Jon Mahood (4-42) and Tamoor Hussain.
However, an unbeaten knock of 98 from David Quamil plus a handy 47 from Simon Carter wrestled the game back for Marlow as they added 101 runs for the seventh wicket.
Once Carter departed, Paul Brzeziski (13) joined Quamil in the middle to chalk off the remaining 40 runs needed for victory with five balls to spare.
Beaconsfield had earlier crafted a recovery of their own with the bat.
They had been reduced to 51-3 before captain Chris Thomas, James Rendell (39 not out) and Ian Shepherd (21) hauled them up towards the 200 mark.
On Saturday Beaconsfield take on High Wycombe 2s, who are bottom of the table after two defeats from two, while Marlow go to Datchet.
