Wood agrees new Wanderers deal
POPULAR utility player Sam Wood has signed a new two-year contract with Wycombe Wanderers.
The 27-year-old said the club is moving in the right direction following last season's dramatic last-day escape from relegation.
He's the second player to agree a new deal this summer, penning a contract that will keep him at Adams Park until 2016.
Wood, who has made 87 appearances at full back and in midfield since arriving from Brentford, said: "I’ve grown really fond of the club in my two years here and I’m delighted to sign for another two years.
"You can tell from the gaffer’s signings so far that we’re moving in the right direction and I can’t wait to get stuck into the new season."
Blues boss Gareth Ainsworth was delighted Wood followed the lead of Gary Doherty in signing a new contract, in addition to new signings Paul Hayes and Aaron Pierre.
He said: "Sam is a really important part of my plans and to keep him here is a massive plus for me, his team-mates and the supporters.
"He’s coming into the prime of his career and it’s great he’s agreed to be a part of our plans for the next two seasons."
"He’s got an excellent delivery, he’s versatile and he’s got just the sort of character I want around the dressing room."
