GARETH Ainsworth hopes his forays into the transfer market this summer will persuade his out-of-contract players to remain with Wanderers.

The Blues boss is waiting to hear back from six players he offered new deals to at the end of the campaign.

But he's hoping his three new signings, Paul Hayes, Aaron Pierre and Sido Jombati, will encourage those in limbo to make their minds up - as well as convincing his transfer targets that Adams Park is the place to be next season.

Ainsworth said: "It's good to get players over the line, but the right players, and we believe so far we've got the right players over the line - the right characters to add to the squad.

"The calibre of Hayes, Pierre and Jombati coming in will open a few eyes and make people think, 'I want to be part of that'.

"I'll do the best for Wycombe Wanderers and the players hopefully will come on board with me.

"We've got offers out there on other players. It's like a huge game of poker for two months with every other manager and player.

"We are going to be a smaller squad, the budget will be tight, but hopefully we'll have a squad of good quality and good enough to finish way above where we did this season."
