JAMES Benning starred with bat and ball as High Wycombe won the battle of Bucks against Gerrards Cross.

He smashed 92 runs off 83 balls as Wycombe recovered from both of their opening batsmen being dismissed without a run being scored.

Benning hit 11 fours and two sixes to help the hosts reach 220-8 off 32 overs after rain pushed back the start.

He then returned to take five wickets for 32 runs in his seven overs as the Cross were all out for 142.

And to make matters worse Gerrards Cross were penalised 12 runs for a slow over rate.

David Cranfield-Thompson hit 52 as he and Benning combined to put on a 111-run third wicket stand, with Tom Hampton the pick of the Cross bowlers as he took 4-25.
