BEACONSFIELD golfers Annabel Dimmock and Gemma Dryburgh failed to help Great Britain and Ireland to Curtis Cup victory as America won the trophy 13-7 in Missouri, but left America with memories to last a lifetime.
The Bucks pair played together on Friday morning but were beaten 4 and 3, although Dimmock joined Brote Law to earn a half in the foursomes in the afternoon.
She and Law then won one up in Saturday’s fourball but Dryburgh lost both her Saturday matches as the visitors entered Sunday’s singles seven points behind.
Dryburgh’s one up win over Ashlan Ramsey did give GB something to cheer about, but Dimmock went down to Ally McDonald as the USA romped home.
Both Dimmock and Dryburgh were making their Curtis Cup debuts.
Dryburgh tweeted: “Just got home from the Curtis Cup and it’s safe to say I had an amazing time even though we lost. Memories for a lifetime.”
The Curtis Cup is based on the Ryder Cup format and is the most prestigious team event in golf for amateur women golfers.
