WYCOMBE Ladies CC won their third game in a row this season and first at home on Sunday when they beat Totteridge at Green Dragon Lane.

Asked to field first, Wycombe had to wait until the fifth over for their first breakthrough when wicket-keeper Katie Hudson showed a safe pair of gloves.

Wickets fell quickly after that with the home bowlers recording five wicket maidens between them in Totteridge’s score of 79-9 – more than half of which were extras.

In reply, both Wycombe’s openers fell early, but Lauren Head and Katie Gibson took their side to within 20 runs of victory before Shanique Yearwood hit the winning runs with a lofted drive for four.

Captain Angeli Lotay said: “I was impressed by the way our middle order batswomen responded to the loss of the more experienced players at the top of the order.

“The team played well under pressure and stayed calm when the going got tough.

“We still have a lot to work on but we can take many positives from this match – we’ve successfully cleared another hurdle in our aim to win the league, and I’m proud of the effort from each individual and of the team’s performance as a whole.”
