WANDERERS have added to their squad ahead of the new season after signing Accrington utility man Peter Murphy.

The 24-year-old, who scored a last minute equaliser for Stanley against Blues when the sides met in November, has signed a two-year deal which includes an option for a third year, depending on appearances.

He netted nine times in 47 games last season, having made a total of 176 appearances for the Lancashire club since joining as a 16-year-old.

Assistant manager Richard Dobson said: “We’ve kept a close eye on Peter’s progress and seen him develop as a player over the years, so we know he fits the character and work ethic that we want at the club.

“He’s a utility player who has shown he’s capable of scoring goals from midfield, so we’re really looking forward to welcoming him to Wycombe Wanderers.”

The transfer of Murphy, who can play in midfield or defence, will officially be confirmed on July 1.
