WYCOMBE Phoenix Harriers’ sequence of second place finishes in the Youth Development League continued at Jarman Park last weekend.

Ben Layne got pulses racing in the U15 sprints with times of 12.4 seconds, 25.3 seconds and 40 seconds over 100m, 200m and 300m respectively, while in the field it was Max two for Wycombe thanks to the throwing double act of Max Cherrett and Max Gajadharsingh.

They won the A and B discus competitions and were only pipped to a repeat performance in the shot putt by the last throw of the competition.

Cherrett completed the set with a personal best of 31.49 in the javelin.

For the U13s, Toby Holden came fourth after improving his long jump personal best to 4.25m while Ollie Saunders finished second on countback in the high jump, after his jump of 1.25 saw him into a four-way tie.

Saunders then stepped into the breach in the 1,500, running into third place thanks to a personal best time of 5:15.5.

For the girls, Scarlet Storr was red hot in the U15s events with three new personal bests coming in the 75m hurdles, 100m and javelin.

Not to be outdone, her twin Grace recorded lifetime best performances in the 200m hurdles and discus while Kate Cumming and Anna Jones set new bests in the 200m and shot.

Also in the field, the pole vaulting duo of Eden Hudson and Lauren Torley gained maximum points with heights of 2.40m and 2.10m.

Elsewhere, the U13 girls picked up maximum points in the high jump and the 1,200m while new personal bests came from Holly Hodgskinson in the 800m and Emily Sanderson in the long jump.

The Youth Development League concludes at Perivale on July 19.
