SIR William Borlase’s School Boat Club flexed their muscles on home waters with a prestigious victory at the Marlow Regatta last Saturday.
They won the elite quadruple sculls despite taking on a number of high quality adult crews from around the country.
The victory stands them in good stead for this weekend, when they go to the Henley Regatta in pursuit of the Fawley Cup.
Meanwhile, the top event of the day, the Grand Challenge Cup for elite eights, was won by Leander Club while Australian crew Mercantile Rowing Club also warmed up for the Henley Regatta with a win at Dorney Lake.
Marlow Regatta chairman Peter Blaseby said: “The new format of time trials in the morning and seeded finals in the afternoon produced some extremely close racing and we were blessed with a beautiful day.
“As a committee we will be looking to learn lessons from this year’s event and look forward to welcoming crews, clubs, volunteers and visiting officials back to Dorney next year.”
