STUART Beavon will not be rejoining Wanderers after the striker opted to sign for Burton Albion instead.

Blues had enquired about bringing the former fans' favourite back to Adams Park on loan after he fell down the pecking order at Preston North End.

But it's been announced today that although Beavon will be playing in League Two next season, it will be in the colours of last season's beaten play off finalists Burton.

The 30-year-old had been a Wanderers target after a disappointing campaign for Preston last season conjured up just three goals.

He netted 25 in his last full season at Adams Park in 2011/12 before moving up a division to join the Lilywhites.

Beavon left under something of a cloud however, refusing to play in a League Cup tie against Watford to prevent himself from becoming cup tied in later rounds of the competition.

He told the official Burton club website after joining them: "This club as what it takes to get promoted. I watched some of the games last season and seen the players that have come in so we have a great chance of promotion.

"Having been involved at Preston in the play-offs last season, I didn’t really want to leave League One but having seen what this club can do I’m really looking forward to joining up with the lads and getting started."

The striker will be back at Adams Park with his new team on Saturday, November 15.
