EVIE Brown is having to go faster and faster to hold on to her club records at Amersham Swimming Club, after an evening of intense competition at the Club Championships on Saturday.

Brown saw two of her seven-year-old records tumble as Kreswin Smith raced to victory in the 100m freestyle and 200m backstroke.

But she didn’t let that set her back as she promptly set two more club records in the eight-year-old group, winning both the 100m breaststroke and 200m backstroke.

Earlier in the week the club were on show at the British Gas International Swimming Championships in Manchester, when their boys and girls relay teams had both qualified.

Some of the world’s best swimmers were there, including British record holders Ben Proud, Adam Peaty, James Guy and Olympic gold medallist Ruta Meilutyte.

The boys team of Charlie Messenger, Hugo Bellamy, Fraser Brydon and George Marsh swam superbly to come home four seconds under their entry time in 3:43.00, only to be disqualified for a misjudged changeover.

The girls did finish their race, with Rosie Whittaker; Sarah Hammond; Thanya Jasinska; Mia Poplawska coming home in 4:09.36.
