GARETH Ainsworth said there "wasn't a chance" of bringing Stuart Beavon back to Adams Park because Blues couldn't afford his wages.

The former Wanderers striker was yesterday unveiled as a Burton Albion player for the forthcoming campaign after joining last year's beaten play off finalists on a season-long loan.

Ainsworth said that was down to a lack of cash in his transfer kitty - and he said being strapped for cash has caused him to miss out on other transfer targets.

The Blues boss said: "There was no way we could afford Stuart Beavon to come back here. I think that shows the gulf in what a team like Burton Albion can spend and what we've got. There wasn't a chance.

"There's been a few higher players I'd have liked to have brought in but realistically there's no way we could afford it."

Lack of finances were blamed for a failure to complete a loan deal for Paul Hayes in January, although the striker has now permanently signed for Wanderers on a two-year deal.

I would love to drive an aston martin but cannot afford one, but i do not go around moaning about it. Ainsworth you are a very lucky man to still be in charge of wwfc, even though had they been relegated im sure you would have bolted through the nearest door and never have been seen again. Get on with your job with the budget you have or sod off ! How about cutting your extortionate wages to help bring the much needed firepower to your pathetic attack. Oh no that would be asking too much wouldnt it, just beg the supporters for more money !!!
