A TEAM from Buckinghamshire New University Rowing Club won their very first race competing as an eight at the Marlow Town Regatta.
The team won an invitational event against Marlow Vets Crew.
Matt Smith, captain of the men's team at Bucks New University's Rowing Club, said: “The boys' effort and attitude to training leading up to the event was outstanding and this left us in a positive mindset going into our first race as an eight.
“We knew that the Marlow Rowing Club crew would row consistently well throughout the length of the race and they took out an early lead but credit to our boys for keeping their heads when we were trailing and we won to turn our first regatta result into a positive one.”
Fellow student Claire Vanner was coxswain and the team are coached by Tom Rendell and Sam Gost.
