MATT Bloomfield said quality over quantity is the right way to go after being impressed with the new arrivals at Adams Park this summer.

A large squad couldn't stop Blues from being embroiled in a relegation scrap last season, with Wanderers escaping the drop by the skin of their teeth on a dramatic final day.

Bloomfield said the new players have what it takes to ensure better times for the club, despite manager Gareth Ainsworth cutting back on his squad size.

The long serving midfielder said: "Gaz has done the right thing - I've been really impressed. They are all good players from what I know about them and they've all got good personalities and characters, which is important.

"I know Hayesy [Paul Hayes] from his loan spell and he's a good character, and Alan Bennett's told me good things about Sido [Jombati].

"They bring a freshness and added enthusiasm."

Looking back at last season Bloomfield said: "The fact it ended on a good note meant we could enjoy our summer but at the back of our minds we knew it wasn't good enough. We want to improve on that and I'm sure we will.

"That's a good motivation for me, not to have another season like last year."
