WASPS kick off the new Aviva Premiership season against Saracens at Twickenham on September and director of rugby Dai Young says it’s time to draw a line under their recent near misses and Rugby HQ.

Last year they lost 16-15 to Harlequins when Andy Goode’s last minute conversion hit a post, and the year before they were beaten 42-40 by the same team after leading 40-13 midway through the second half.

Young said: “It would be nice to get a win in the Double Header this year. It would be nice to win rather than be biting our nails at the end but we're playing Saracens which is always tough.”

Wasps did actually beat Sarries the last time the sides met at Twickenham at the start of the 2011/12 season.

Young said: “We're really looking forward to it and it's always a great occasion – win, lose or draw it doesn't change the fact that it's a great experience for the players and the supporters.

"I know everybody is excited for it and hopefully we'll come away from there this year with a smile on our face."
