EDEN Hudson climbed nearly as high as the temperatures to book her place in the England Championships next month after settng a new person best in the pole vault at the weekend.

The Wycombe Phoenix Harrier was competing in the final Youth Development meet of the season at Perivale and scaled 2.50m in the U15 pole vault to earn her place in the nationals.

Hudson’s jump was one of 20 personal bests set by the club’s athletes on the day.

Emily Sanderson (U13) won the long jump with a personal best of 4.31 while both Ollie Saunders and Ed O’Neill reached new heights of 1.36m and 1.25m to win the U13 high jump.

In the U13s shot putt, Jasmine Presho and Emma Stilwell won their A and B strings with throws of 7m and 4.98m, while in the U15 age group Eloise Walker won both shot and javelin with throws of 9.06m and 31.05m and Anna Jones set a new personal best to win the B string with 6.34m.

Jones was also in lifetime best form in the discus with a throw of 14.43m, while Cleo Pryer threw an individual best of 7.9m to take third in the hammer and Ana Montgomery set two new records, 6.83m in the hammer and 17.26m in the javelin.

For the U15 boys, Max Cherrett (32.95m) and Fraser Kilsby (24.15m) won the A and B string javelin events.

On the track, Kirsten Stilwell and Holly Hodgskinson dominated the U13 1,200m with times of 3:55.4 and 4:10.6, while Grace Storr dipped under her previous best times in the U15s 100m and 200m with 13.6 seconds and 27.9 seconds.

Lauren Torley set a new personal best in the U15s 300m, Olivia Lowrie (U13) won the 800m in 2:25.4, while other best times came from Emma Styles, Cerys Vico, Dan Stokoe and Joe Styles in the 800m and Ed O’Neill in the 1,500m (5:19.7).
