STEPHEN Joubert was Amersham CC’s match-winner as they halted a slide down the Home Counties League with a crucial victory over Dinton.

Joubert returned decisive figures of 6-29 from 14 overs as Amersham cleaned up Dinton for just 137.

He and Bruce Friderichs then put on more than 50 for the first wicket of Amersham’s reply with knocks of 38 and 56 not out.

Joubert’s wicket sparked a mini wobble though as they slipped to 64-3 with Chris Cann and Hugh Jackson both falling cheaply.

But,Andrew Viney bedded in for a steadying 24 further down the order while Friderichs cashed in to pass 50 and take his team to the brink of victory.

They are now up to fifth in the table and just five points off third-placed Shipton-under-Wynchwood.

Meanwhile, Amersham 2s continued their superb season with a convincing demolition of Marlow 2s division 4A of the Thames Valley League.

Jack Kilgannon (94 not out), Ollie Haddock (70) and Nick Nguyen (55) led the way as Amersham raced to 277-3, before Luke Douglas (7-26) bowled Marlow out for 126.

Their 151-run triumph extended their unbeaten run to 11 games and stretched their lead to 45 points.

However, in Division 6A Amersham 3s lost top spot after they were well-beaten by Hillingdon Manor.

They made 103 in reply to Manor’s 275-7.
