AMERSHAM Swimming Club warmed up for the National Age Group and Youth Championships in Sheffield with 80 top three finishes at the Wycombe District Swimming Club long course meet last weekend.

They sent 34 swimmers across Bucks for the event, returning with 25 bronze, 36 silver and 19 gold medals.

Among their high achievers, Charlie Messenger won the blue riband 100m freestyle race in a time of 56.77 seconds, while Rosie Whittaker won the 50m freestyle junior final in 28.54 seconds.

Hugo Bellamy set a new long course club record in the 400m individual medley with a time of 5:02.78.

Amersham’s winners were Joseph Horstead 11; Hugo Bellamy 15; Fraser Brydon 16, Tom Strudwick 16, Harry Pendered 17, Charlie Messenger 18, Stephanie Roycroft 11, Amelie Brown 11, Roisin Hynes 11, Ceara Barber 12, Ella Patrick 12, Amy Hortop 13 and Katie Dibbs 15.

Their other medalists were Emily Roycroft 9; Thomas Hortop 10, Dylan Woolven 10 , Alex Lawman 10, Niamh Barber 10, Madelaine Stares 10, Georgina Lewis 10, Tim Everrett 11, and Ellie Lock 11.
