GOALS are what Gareth Ainsworth wants to see from his side as they face their final two pre season fixtures this week.

Wanderers have only found the net in two of their five friendlies to date, although they were up against the stars and international players of Chelsea, Reading and a West Bromwich Albion team when they fired blanks.

Ainsworth said tonight’s trip to Wealdstone and Saturday’s visit to Barnet’s new Hive ground will more closely resemble the everyday nitty gritty of life in League Two.

When Wanderers have got their attacking game going, as they did at non league sides Cheshunt and Chesham United, they have impressed and Ainsworth is looking for more of the same.

He said: “We’ve got two games coming up, Wealdstone and Barnet, where I want us to be firing and getting some goals. These are the typical games we’ll be having in League Two.

“I’m making sure the Barnet game we are at full flight and we go into the week of Newport and everyone’s fit and raring to go.”

With the end of the pre season campaign drawing nearer, Ainsworth said: “You do start looking more for results. We beat a lot of teams last year – I think Reading were the only team to beat us. In pre season it’s difficult to judge where you are.

“There are teams that get beaten by non league sides, teams who beat Premier League sides. For me, it’s about keeping everyone injury free.”
