WANDERERS will have to play in the first round of this season's Johnstone's Paint Trophy after failing to be awarded a bye.

Blues are one of eight teams who will participate in the south west section of the competition from the outset.

The first round draw will take place on August 16 and Wanderers will be paired with one of Cheltenham Town, Coventry City, Newport County, Oxford United, Portsmouth or the sides who have knocked them out in each of the last two seasons, Swindon Town and Yeovil Town.

The competition will also see referees using the vanishing spray trialled at the World Cup to ensure defenders retreat ten yards when defending free kicks.
