GERRARDS Cross CC gave their survival chances a huge shot in the arm on Saturday while upsetting High Wycombe's Home Counties title hopes with a shock 62-run over their neighbours.

Cross were adrift at the foot of the table before play but a stunning bowling display from Tom Hampton brought Wycombe crashing to earth and dragged Cross up to within six points of second-from-bottom Harefield.

Daniel Solway (43) and Sam Bracey (69) top-scored for Cross as they made 189 batting first, with James Benning the pick of the Wycombe bowlers with figures of 5-59.

But Hampton was the undisputed match-winner as he decimated the Wycombe order with figures of 6-31.

David Cranfield-Thompson (27) and Matt Eyles (26) tried to rescue the innings in the middle order, but Hampton removed them both as Wycombe were all out for 127.

Meanwhile in Division Two, Chesham are rooted to the bottom after losing at home to Cove while Amersham are up to third after beating Falkland.
