GARETH Ainsworth has told his players to be spurred on to success by remembering how close they came to blowing it last season.

While the great escape at Torquay on the last day of the campaign sparked one of the biggest parties seen in south Bucks for many years, Ainsworth said it was nothing to celebrate.

Instead he's told the players who were in that squad to remember how they felt before kick off at Plainmoor with Blues staring relegation full in the face - and make sure they never experience it again.

Ainsworth said: "It's important you learn from the previous encounters, whether it's games or seasons. I think we will remember last season for the reason we don't want to go back there.

"It was a fantastic escape but it wasn't something to celebrate. Now it's something to look back and think, 'Let's not go there again'.

"I'll be at the helm trying to stop that ever happening again for Wycombe Wanderers."
