CHESHAM Stags coaches Rochelle Clark and Kat Merchant are World Cup champions this morning after ending 20 years of England frustration with a 21-9 victory over Canada in the final in Paris yesterday.

England had lost the previous three Women's Rugby World Cup Finals to New Zealand, in 2002, 2006 and 2010, but put all that disappointment behind them to lift the trophy for the first time since 1994.

England had drawn 13-13 with Canada earlier in the tournament, but 16 points from Emily Scarratt plus a try from Danielle Waterman was enough to win it for the Red Roses when it mattered most.

Merchant tweeted: "Words can't express how I'm feeling right now. I want to thank everybody for their support it's been amazing #WEDIDIT."

And Chesham were there in force to support their coaches.

After throwing the pair a surprise party before the World Cup started, more than 30 Stags crossed The Channel to support England against Canada, carrying specially printed 'Rocky & Kat' posters.
