Resilient Greens battle on in FA Cup

HOLMER Green came from behind three times to win their FA Cup extra preliminary round tie at Tring Athletic on Saturday.

Playing uphill for the first 45 minutes, they did well to get to the break just 1-0 down but the second period was a different story.

Chris Allen made it 1-1 from the spot, and although Tring went back in front Ryan Tackley free kick again pegged them back.

This topsy turvy match still had some way to go though, with Tring again taking the lead after 71 minutes.

But Tackley rifled in a third equaliser after 84 minutes before the Greens won it in the fourth minute of injury time through Dean Powles.

THAME United booked their place in the next round of The FA Cup when they ended Cove’s 100 per cent start to the season on Saturday.

Luke Ricketts scored the only goal of the game after 11 minutes.

FLACKWELL Heath were too strong for Bracknell Town on Saturday, romping to a straightforward 4-0 victory.
