BEACONSFIELD SYCOB hope to get better and better as their young squad adjusts to the rigours of senior football.

Manager Andy Hurley only took over at Holloways Park two weeks before the season started and inherited a team that didn’t have a single player left over from last season.

Hurley has filled the shirts with players from Marlow’s FAB Academy, alongside a few older heads.

But he admits more experience is crucial in the Southern League Central Division.

He said: “The boys are doing extremely well but the physical side is taking it’s toll.

“They’re big, strapping lads and are learning quickly, but we need some more older heads.”

Beaconsfield led St Ives Town 2-1 on Saturday thanks to goals from Omari Patrick and Aaron Berry but conceded a 94th minute equaliser, and they were 1-0 up against Egham Town on Tuesday after Lee Thompson’s goal, but ended with nothing after the visitors emerged for the second half with a far more physical attitude.

Tomorrow Beaconsfield host Daventry before going to Chalfont St Peter on Monday.
