WYCOMBE Hockey Club have appointed a former international player as their new coach for the men’s first and second teams.
Ian Sloan has played 21 times for Ireland and takes control of the men’s section this week ahead of the start of the new season in October.
Sloan joins Wycombe from Loughborough University, where he spent the last two seasons playing in the National Premier League.
He also coached the Loughborough second team to the Midlands League title.
Sloan has moved to the area to be a part of England Hockey’s Centralised Training Programme based at Bisham Abbey and will play for Wimbledon in the National Premier League.
Meanwhile, the club is holding an open day from 11.30am-4pm on Sunday at the Cressex Astro Pitch.
The event is open to men, women and juniors who want to try their hand at hockey and will include small-sided matches.
