WASPS hope Ruaridh Jackson will be back in action sooner rather than later after he had to be stretchered off against Northampton Saints yesterday.

The fly half was a second half replacement for Andy Goode and apart from sparking some fine attacking rugby that brought both tries, the Scotland ten landed both conversions from opposite touchlines.

Those four points proved critical in Wasps’ 20-16 victory, but Jackson had left the action by the end with a knee injury.

Director of rugby Dai Young said: “I thought Ruaridh came on and really gave us a spark.

“His kicking was excellent as well and those kicks were important because the changed the outlook of Saints and made them go for it a bit more.

“He’s got a knee injury but it’s not related to the injury he got in pre-season.

“Nobody was near him at the time and I think it’s a ligament as he changed angles and went over.

“But fingers crossed it’s not too bad. When he got injured in pre-season it looked quite nasty but it was only two or three weeks then so hopefully it’s weeks rather than months.”

Andy Goode should be fit for Harlequins while Alex Lozowski and Rob Miller are also fly half options.
