HIGH Wycombe CC Ladies have been crowned league champions after beating Totteridge in their final league match to end the season unbeaten.

They restricted Totteridge to 113-7, aided by three run outs, before Natalie Romain (37 not out) and Katie Gibson (30 not out) saw them race to victory at a rate of 7.6 per over.

Gibson said: “It was a true team effort and to get three run outs gave us a real boost. It was hugely gratifying to see this culmination of all the hours spent practising the basics.”

Meanwhile, captain Angeli Lotay, who led her team to the title in only their second season, said: “Words cannot express how proud I am of everyone in the squad for their passion and commitment.

"This has been an amazing season for us. We have certainly put women’s cricket on the map here in Buckinghamshire.”

High Wycombe can look forward life in North London A next summer, although there is talk of a new Thames Valley League.

The Ladies haven’t had it all their own way this summer though; they were beaten in the T20 semi-finals by Underhill last weekend.
