BLUES boss Gareth Ainsworth said he's not concerned at how other teams in League Two perceive his side's excellent start to the season.

Wanderers are there to be shot at after making an early move into the automatic promotion places despite being among the bookies' favourites to take the drop.

But Ainsworth said tomorrow's opponents Portsmouth will still be looking at his side as one they should be beating in their quest for promotion.

Wanderers have already proved reputations count for nothing after taking points off a number of teams who were expected to challenge at the top.

They're yet to lose at Fratton Park, winning a 2012 Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie and securing a point with a last minute goal on their last visit after a penalty save from Matt Ingram.

Ainsworth said: "They're a huge club. We've been there a couple of times under my tenure and got good results down at Fratton Park.

"It's another team who are fancied - they'll be round there at the top and will be looking at us thinking, 'We need to be beating teams like Wycombe Wanderers'. We'll be there as underdogs again.

"Honestly, I'm not concerned about the other teams looking at us. They'll all have their different views.

"There's a plan for this club, which is to keep away from last year. That can never happen again. The initial plan is to learn from that. As long as everyone knows the plan, I'm not too concerned how other people look at us.

"It's hard not to look at it and see us in the top three and start letting our emotions run away with things. We've all got to be careful about keeping them in check and not get drawn into last year again.

"We've come a long way in quite a fast time but this game can go the other way just as fast."

Pompey - who were in the top flight and contesting an FA Cup final as recently as 2010 - are strongly tipped to go back up this year and their injury list shows the differences between them and Wanderers.

Former England international Nicky Shorey and last year's player of the season Ricky Holmes will both be absent - as will Ryan Taylor, Danny East, Tom Craddock, Nigel Atangana, Ben Chorley and Nick Awford.

It's a lengthy list of absentees but Portsmouth still have plenty of options to cover for them.

Ainsworth said: "They're a strong side and spent a lot of money on and off the pitch. They've got the resources and are really going for it."

Ex Portsmouth player Paris Cowan-Hall could come back into contention for Wanderers, while Ainsworth was optimistic Steven Craig would be able to rejoin full training today following his concussion.
