TEN points from two home games represents the perfect start for Marlow RFC as they backed up a big win over High Wycombe with a four-try triumph over Thatcham.

Thatcham were third last season and began the new campaign with a 49-8 victory, but they found Marlow too tough to crack as the hosts ran out 25-8 winners at Riverwoods.

Head coach Richard Kinsey said: “There were still a few errors and we were up against a more organised opposition than last week, they were better up front.

“But our decision-making was better. When we had a penalty six minutes from the end we lined up as though we were going to kick it even though we had about a 20-point lead and three tries.

“Then we realised another three points wouldn’t make a difference, but come the end of the season a bonus point would.”

It paid off with a fourth try to continue Marlow’s fine start ahead of Saturday’s trip to Milton Keynes.

Kinsey said: “I just want to see the same thing again really with a gradual improvement.

“The forwards are still standing in the nine and ten channels and blocking the runners and we need to listen to each other more.

“There is an awful lot of white noise, aimless shouting, but the two things holding us back will both come from playing together and gaining in confidence in each other.

Matt Saunders, Eddy Smyth, George Jafari and Howard Mears were their try-scorers last weekend, with Nick Carvey adding five points with the boot.
