WYCOMBE District Swimming Club are competing in the fast lane again after a fantastic start to the National Arena Swimming League.

Not only are they fielding two teams in the prestigious competition for the first time in their history, they matched quality with quantity with a first and third place finish in Round One to make the club’s best start to the competition for a decade.

The National Arena Swimming League has 400 teams participating in seven regions around the country.

Competing in the South Premier Division at Bexleyheath, the A Team finished in third place.

The team is now ranked seventh across the Southern Premier League and is the highest placed Berks & South Bucks club.

Meanwhile, the B Team also performed with distinction in Division Two West at Waterlooville, winning with an impressive 30-point margin to end the first weekend of competition ranked second overall in their division.

Head coach and Bucks Coach of the Year Kevin Brooks said: “This is a significant step for WDSC and it is a statement of our intent.

“Both teams performed excellently in round one and I’m very proud of them.

“It doesn’t stop there though. The A Team is targeting the South Premier Final, which means finishing in the top six overall and the B Team is targeting promotion to Division Two.

“We still have lots of hard work to put in to reach our potential but this has been another big step in the right direction.”

Rounds two and three take place in November and December, with the finals at Cardiff International Pool in April.
