WANDERERS captain Paul Hayes said nobody in League Two will trump the signing of Hogan Ephraim - a man he says is good enough to still play in the Premier League.

Ephraim signed for Blues last week and helped lay on the opening Wanderers goal against Oxford when he was given a debut on Saturday.

Hayes played alongside the 26-year-old at Charlton Athletic and said the forward is far too good for the fourth tier of English football.

He said after Ephraim impressed on his debut: "For the age he is and the years he's got, he should be in the Prem. His talent and creativity is way above every single player in this league.

"Credit to the chairman, Andrew, the gaffer and the board for getting Hogan here for the season - it's tremendous. That could be the signing, for any club, for the season.

"He made it a lot easier for a lot of players. When you give him the ball, he's going to do something with it."

Ephraim, who was released by QPR in the summer, came on as an early second half substitute for Steven Craig and Hayes was quick to pay tribute to the Scotsman's contribution against Oxford.

He said: "Stevie's battled on and been a proper warrior. For all Hoags has done, we need to talk about how well Stevie's done. What a replacement that is for us in Hoags, when Stevie comes off."
