BEACONSFIELD coach Simon Tattersall hopes a derby day victory over Marlow can provide his side with the foundations for a push up the table.

Bucks bragging rights went Beaconsfield's way courtesy of a 15-3 win as they were the only side in the bottom half of the Southern Counties North table to pick up a win on Saturday.

And although Tattersall said the table doesn't lie he thinks his side will be a different proposition in the second half of the season to the one that's not made the impact on the division that he would have liked.

He said: "I think we've had a lot of our more difficult away games - we've been away to Stow, away at High Wycombe, away to Thatcham, some of the form teams.

"I'm looking forward to the second half of the season and those sides coming to us. We said at the start of the season we'll target top four, and that's still a possibility. We want to move up and finish fifth or sixth at the very least.

"If we get consistency in selection and in our game plan, I think we will be a dangerous side. I don't think some of those sides will enjoy playing us - we're not going to be an easy team."

Tattersall said the win over a Marlow side who've had some encouraging results of their own this season was proof of what they were capable of.

All the points came in the first half as Callum Wilkinson scored two tries and Rob Waldron kicked a penalty and a conversion for Beaconsfield.

Tattersall said: "Conditions weren't easy for either side but as a team we managed the conditions better.

"We worked hard on our game management during the week before in the lead up to the game and we executed that. In the first 40 minutes we put a lot of positional and territorial pressure on Marlow.

"Second half they came back strongly and tried to take us on up front. Our energy and enthusiasm in defence was really pleasing and we managed to shut them out.

"We don't want people lying around on the floor being lazy - they really fronted up. They wanted to keep that clean sheet."

Beaconsfield are without a game tomorrow, instead having to wait until next weekend's trip to Milton Keynes for a chance to build on the win.
