When Matt Ingram runs out at the Store First Stadium on Saturday he’ll be making his 85th consecutive start for the Chairboys against the club whom he made his first.

The 21-year-old made his Wanderers bow in a 1-0 defeat to Accrington in March 2012, and has donned the gloves in every game since.

Manager Gareth Ainsworth gave the ‘keeper his debut that day, after Jordan Archer had been recalled by Tottenham, and the Blues boss hailed his achievement.

He said: “It’s wonderful for somebody so young to have played that many games and I think it will go on and pay big dividends in his career in later life.

“I think that Matty is a superb talent, he’s going to play at the top level one day and I hope that we’ve played a big part in that.”

If the Hazlemere born stopper can keep out Accrington on the weekend it will be the 21st clean sheet of his young career.

Ainsworth has been impressed with Ingram’s consistency since breaking onto the scene and believes the fans will continue to get behind their number one.

“To keep going and keep playing at a consistently high level he deserves his 84 consecutive games and, being a Wycombe boy as well, it’s fantastic for the fans to have a home-grown player to shout for and get behind.”
