Mark Bartley has strengthened his attacking options with the addition of former QPR attacker Romone Rose.

The Marlow boss had voiced concerns over his side’s quality in the final third over the last few weeks and has now moved to rectify that with the addition of the 25-year-old, who signs on at Oak Tree Road after leaving Conference South side Staines Town.

Rose counts football league teams Newport County, AFC Wimbledon, Cheltenham Town and Northampton Town among his former clubs, with six league appearances for QPR the outstanding point of reference on his CV.

Bartley wrote on the club’s website that he felt the deal represents a good piece of business for Marlow.

He said: “He’s a good age, and is determined to push himself back up to the higher echelons of the game and he knows that if he delivers here those opportunities will open up for him.

“He’s different to what we already have, and I think he’ll compliment the other attacking players in the side. I also think that physically he is a little bit ahead of the majority of the attacking players and I think the extra physicality will provide us with another weapon to open up the opposition.”

The Marlow manager will be hoping Rose’s arrival can inspire a side who have won just one of their last nine league matches, and who crashed out in the semi-finals of the Berks & Bucks Cup with a 3-1 defeat against Aylesbury United on Tuesday night.

The forward will go into Saturday’s squad for the trip to local rivals Chalfont St Peter as they look to move up from 15th place in the league.
