Having delivered a performance which Blues fans picked out as the best of a very good bunch on Saturday, Matt Bloomfield is aiming to become a permanent fixture in Gareth Ainsworth’s starting XI.

The number 10 saw off competition from goal scorers Aaron Pierre and Matt McClure as well as captain Paul Hayes to win the BFP’s man-of-the-match award against Carlisle.

Bloomfield took 40 per cent of the vote, 14 per cent clear of runner-up Pierre, and will now be hoping his performance in Cumbria has earned him a 20th start of the season against Stevenage tomorrow.

He said: “I was really pleased with how it went. I’ve been enjoying my football this year and I’ll play as well as I can to stay in the team. When the teams being relatively successful and winning games everyone wants to be a part of that and I’m no different.

“I want to play as many games as I possibly can and I want to stay in the team as much as I can between now and the end of the season.

“Obviously Saturday was a good stepping stone for that and I felt personally that it went very well, and I need to use that performance as a springboard to go on through to the end of the season.

“I need to use the positivity off last weekend to keep producing good performances to try my best to stay in the team. If I can do that then hopefully I can help the team pick up as many points as we can until the end of the season to achieve what we know want to achieve.”
